RIDE SUMMARY

If you enjoy touring isolated back roads this ride is for you.

The ride started just west of the town Fairfax by turning left from Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, onto Fairfax Bolinas Road. Heading in this direction, the road will wind down to connect to Shoreline/Highway 1, with Olema-Bolinas Road close by.

In the Fall and Winter seasons Fairfax-Bolinas Road can be one big challenging road condition. Even in drier months you must be prepared for road conditions that can change rapidly. Most changes are well posted ahead of time.  Fewer guardrails are present than we woudl have liked and drainage ditches outline most of the road.

At times the road will become unmarked and narrow.  Most of the turns are sweeping, but there is the occasional blind turn that will reduce your visibility of oncoming traffic.  Riders should allow enough time to complete the ride without having to rush.
