This ride is a good alternative to taking CA-12 from Santa Rosa to get to Kenwood. We picked up Bennett Valley Road at Farmer's Lane in Santa Rosa and followed it to the end in Kenwood where it intersects with CA-12.
This route is approximately 12.7 miles. It is a road that has great potential for being a good ride but because this road is heavily traveled by larger vehicles the surface has become uneven and rough.
However, if you are a rider looking for an alternative route to traveling on CA-12 (Valley of the Moon) then this option is a very scenic one.
Be aware of wind blasts from passing trucks. A good portion of this ride takes place in rural residential areas, so parked cars, trash cans may be a concern on the wrong day.
For all of its concerns and detriments the scenery alone balances out the burden of riding with traffic.
