Once you get past the somewhat busy area around Calistoga Road, it becomes a nice, fairly mild country style road with sweeping turns, with a downhill grade.
The scenic views along this back hills road can be just as enjoyable as the road itself. The road, consists of straightaways and smooth turns. Road visibility is good, allowing the rider to see far enough ahead to provide that extra cushion of time to react. This comes in handy when loose gravel is found in your path.
Many overgrown trees and shrubs shadow the road, so be watchful of fallen hillside debris. You are riding through the mountains. Keep in mind having deer, or other wildlife cross your path is probable.
Pay attention to the cautionary signs that are posted. Commercial trucks and automobiles tend to use this road to commute to and from the Napa area.
